And although—as we’ve emphasized many times—we’re most interested in what’s healthy and effective, not necessarily trendy, we want to publish this post to shed some light on vegan cosmetics. Whether you’re just starting your journey toward veganism, taking “baby steps,” or have extensive knowledge based on your own experiences or research, we’ll outline here what we consider most important. We’ll leave it up to you to evaluate. And, of course, to choose—because it’s your decisions and choices that are at the heart of the matter.
The answer is simple: vegan cosmetics are a group of products that contain no animal-derived substances, animal by-products, or any other ingredients of animal origin, including beeswax and honey. In our view, vegan cosmetics are not a passing trend, but a decisive response to Mother Nature’s urgent call. Every company wants its products to have added value that sets them apart from others and makes them more valuable. For this reason, the term “vegan” is often overused and appears in brand communications for purely marketing purposes. With us, it’s probably the opposite—we rarely describe Phenomé cosmetics as vegan, but from the very beginning, it has been crucial for the company’s owners to run the business in accordance with their own values—above all, to ensure that no animals suffer in the production of our cosmetics (neither through the use of animal-derived ingredients nor through animal testing). At the same time, we believe that the most effective and healthiest active cosmetic ingredients for humans are found in plants and minerals. The vegan nature of Phenomé products is therefore a natural consequence of our own beliefs. The same applies to our approach to packaging and the selection of raw materials for its production, which stems from a sense of responsibility and our refusal to accept that the byproduct of creating great natural cosmetics should be piles of plastic that will take hundreds of years to decompose in landfills.
