Hydrolat w kosmetykach jako baza produktu - jak działa

Hydrosols in cosmetics as a base ingredient—how do they work?

Hydrosol is produced during the manufacturing of essential oils. Through distillation, pure plant essences are created, consisting of soluble plant particles and trace amounts of essential oils. This means that hydrosol, like essential oil, contains valuable nourishing and moisturizing properties, but is gentler and can be used on all skin types.

Natural hydrosols are also known as floral waters or plant waters.

Hydrosol is distinguished primarily by its light texture and abundance of vitamins and easily absorbed nutrients. That’s why natural hydrosol is much more than just another cosmetic ingredient—we only discover its true synergistic power when we use it as a base for skincare products.

Hydrosol as a base in Phenomé natural cosmetics

Phenomé is one of the few companies in Poland that employs an innovative approach to natural cosmetics, using 100% plant-based water in its products instead of regular water. Using hydrosols as the base for all cosmetics is still a rare practice, as it is significantly more expensive than water-based production. However, studies confirm that this formulation not only provides additional nourishment and hydration to the skin but also significantly enhances the effectiveness of the other ingredients. Well-formulated active ingredients combined with hydrosols deliver fast yet long-lasting results.

How do you use a hydrosol?

How should you use hydrosol to get the most out of it? Because it is safe even for sensitive skin, hydrosol can be used in skincare products for all skin types. However, when professionally formulated with other active ingredients, it will deeply nourish your skin and restore its balance. Trust the experts at Phenomé, who have carefully selected the hydrosol for each product to address the most important needs of every skin type. Our products often contain more than one hydrosol, expertly combining luxurious active ingredients to create a vitamin-rich blend. Due to their exceptional richness, we most frequently use rose hydrosol and aloe vera hydrosol.

When is a hydrosol used?

Hydrosols don’t weigh down the skin, so lightweight skincare products formulated with them are a better choice than yet another layer of thick cream. Spray tired skin with, for example, the revitalizing BRILLIANT facial toner, which combines aloe hydrosol with regenerating extracts. Thirsty skin will gratefully absorb the hydration and nutrients from the hydrosol, and you’ll feel refreshed.

Hydrosol – Effects

Natural hydrosols are widely used in cosmetics because they nourish, refresh, and moisturize the skin. Plant waters can be extracted from any plant used in cosmetics production, which is why the properties of hydrosols vary depending on the plant from which they are derived. What they all have in common is their moisturizing, refreshing, and nourishing effects.

Facial toner

Hydrosol can be used at every stage of your facial skincare routine—from makeup removal to moisturizing. It’s a natural way to achieve more radiant, better-nourished skin, and the best part is that, thanks to its natural pH, it stimulates the skin’s natural regenerative processes instead of overwhelming it with synthetic ingredients.

Hair hydrosol

It’s also worth using hydrosol-based skincare products for hair care, as they moisturize and nourish the hair roots. Floral and botanical waters are particularly helpful when your hair is exposed to harmful factors more than usual, such as during the post-winter recovery period or in the summer heat.

Hydrosol vs. Toner

Hydrosol is a product with a pH level similar to that of the skin’s natural pH, which helps restore its balance. It therefore makes an excellent base for toners. Meanwhile, its cleansing properties make floral or botanical water a fantastic ingredient in makeup removers and facial cleansers, such as micellar water.

However, hydrosol alone may be too mild for skin exposed to many harmful external factors, which is why it’s a good idea to combine its benefits with other active ingredients, as we’ve done in our ENLIVENING moisturizing facial toner. It contains as many as three natural hydrosols and is also enriched with precious Damask rose essential oils

Types of hydrosols – which hydrosol is best for sensitive skin, and which for oily skin?

The most commonly used ingredients in natural skincare are:

Rose hydrosol

This is a very popular facial hydrosol because it offers beneficial properties for all skin types. This extraordinary floral water derives its rich nutrients from the distillation of Damask rose, among other ingredients—the most luxurious ingredient used in products for mature skin. Rose water helps maintain skin firmness, smooths wrinkles, and has antioxidant properties. It’s also great for sensitive skin, as it soothes redness and quickly relieves irritation. On the other hand, those with oily or acne-prone skin will love it for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also an essential for dry skin care, as it provides instant and long-lasting hydration and regeneration. Finally, rose hydrosol is worth incorporating into a routine for couperose skin, as it strengthens blood vessels and improves skin tone. https://www.phenome.eu/pl/blog/cera-naczynkowa-pielegnacja-hydrolatem-rozanym-phenome

Chamomile hydrosol

This soothing floral water has antiseptic properties, effectively reducing redness and irritation.

Green tea hydrosol

It has toning properties, regulates sebum production, and minimizes irritation, making it a godsend for combination and oily skin.

Lemon balm hydrosol

It acts as a toner, reduces redness, and soothes irritation.

Neroli hydrosol, made from orange blossoms

It improves skin elasticity, soothes irritated skin, and delays the signs of aging; it is particularly beneficial for combination skin.

Linden flower hydrosol

It soothes irritation and fights free radicals, preventing premature skin aging.
